The Diesel Traction Department is headed by Senior
Professor (Rolling Stock Technology). Professor (Diesel technology),
Assistant Professor (Diesel Electric Technology), Lecturer (Diesel
Hydraulic Technology) and Lecturer (Diesel Mechanical Technology)
look after design and conduction of professional courses. They
are assisted by Chief Instructor (Diesel).
The
Department has built three model rooms covering various components
of the Diesel Locomotives, including cut-section working models
of the engines, working mock-ups of control panel etc.
Diesel-Hydraulic
Model Room
This model room houses the parts of Diesel Hydraulic
Transmission locomotives of WDS4 type.
Diesel-Electric
Model Room
This model room contains parts and components of the
WDM2 type of locomotive. It includes a working simulated control-panel,
circuit diagrams, cut-section engine model, etc.
Diesel GM
Locomotive Model Room
This model room is the latest addition to IRIMEE. It
possesses the cut-section model of the diesel-engine of GM
types of locomotives, apart from many parts and components
kept separately too.
